Rumeur by Lanvin c1934

Rumeur by Lanvin: launched in 1934. Created by André Fraysse. Intended primarily for furs.

Fragrance Composition:

So what does it smell like? It is classified as a tangy, fruity, spicy chypre fragrance for women.

"Rumeur smells of the fragrant forest, the orchards under the sun and the oriental flowers. It is a perfume which charms and which holds back. Perfume for the evening; it will especially appeal to brunettes it envelops in a secret."
  • Top notes: aldehydes, bergamot, peach, plum, cyclamen
  • Heart notes: iris, gardenia, nutmeg, cardamom, cloves, rose, Grasse jasmine
  • Base notes:  resins, green leaves, civet, tobacco, vanilla, leather, patchouli, Mysore sandalwood, oakmoss, vetiver

Stage, 1935:
"There are certain perfumes especially made for furs. (Most perfume, you know, is supposed to leave a sour odor on fur after the first fragrance is gone.) Look at — and smell ! — Lanvin's Rumeur, intended primarily for furs; it is a vivacious kind."

Vogue, 1936:
"Rumeur de Lanvin, noon, aroma that envelops the lasting flavor of summer in a golden scarf, the juice of flowers that are already honey."

Le Petit Parisien : journal quotidien du soir, 1941:
"The evocative smell of leather, revealed by Scandal, confers an exotic appeal that encourages travel and daydreaming, while Rumeur, with resin scents, reveals iris and jasmine, which captivate and retain like a marvelous horizon."

L'Amour de l'art, 1950:
"Rumeur by Lanvin: Like a distant noise, it brings the rumor of your elegance. A perfume of smiles and luck, it unites oriental flowers with iris and jasmine. It seems that East meets West ally for the triumph of this potion."
