Vetyver by Lanvin c1964

Vétyver by Lanvin: launched in 1964. In USA by 1966. Also referred to as Vetyver de Lanvin.





Fragrance Composition:


So what does it smell like? It is classified as a dry woody fragrance for men. Composed of essences from Java, India, Brazil, Seychelles, Martinique, Reunion. Harmonized with sandalwood, musk, spice, essence of cedar, slightly camphorous. It starts off with a fresh bergamot and lemon top, followed by a spicy floral heart of jasmine, cinnamon and carnation, resting on a woody, powdery base of vetiver and cedar.
  • Top notes: bergamot, lemon, orange, petitgrain, rosemary, aldehyde
  • Middle notes: mint, Grasse jasmine, carnation, cinnamon, orris, rose, ylang ylang, bay
  • Base notes: camphor, Mysore sandalwood, Tibetan musk, oakmoss, leather, labdanum, vanilla, Virginia cedar, tonka, Java vetiver




Fate of the Fragrance:


The original version was discontinued.

Vetyver was reformulated by Francois Robert and Lena Pierottie and relaunched in 2003. This new version of Vetyver by Lanvin is an aromatic woody fragrance for men
  • Top notes: lime, juniper, bergamot and lemon
  • Middle notes: jasmine, nutmeg, caraway, cloves and bitter orange
  • Base notes: sandalwood, amber, musk, vetiver and cedar
